EMNR News: A Message from the President

We have a thank you and a few announcements to make. The Board wants to thank Scott McCall for his service as Executive Director of EMNR for the last couple of years. It is a somewhat difficult task, not unlike herding fleas across a barnyard, but he did it well and we appreciate it. He will be focusing his full time attention in overseeing and developing Horizon Bible College.

We do have a new Executive Director, Sarah Flashing, who brings a considerable amount of experience, passion and energy to the position. I have known Sarah for quite a few years. We met when she was just getting the apologetics bug and I have had the privilege of watching her grow in the faith. She has a vision of what she would like to do which she will be sharing with the members in the coming months.

Lastly, we have made a fair amount of progress for next EMNR conference. It will be at Calvary Chapel South Denver on May, 1 – 2, 2015. The theme is “Myth Taken: The Cultural Challenge to the Church.”

Conference Plenary Speakers include:

Tim Challies
Calvin E. Beisner
Chelsen Vicari
Keith Plummer
H. Wayne House

We are taking workshop proposals. Please send them to Sarah Flashing at

Statement on Richard Mouw and Evangelical Countercult Ministries

Evangelical Ministries to New Religions
April 12, 2013

Evangelical Ministries to New Religions (EMNR) was formed in 1982 as “a consortium of Christians in North America, seeking to help people distinguish authentic from in-authentic Christianity and strengthen evangelical Christian ministries to new religionists and cultists.” It serves as an umbrella group for about three dozen such ministries and over a dozen additional individual scholars, researchers, and evangelists also working in this field. It does not claim to speak for all evangelicals engaged in such ministry, but seeks to coordinate efforts among like-minded evangelicals and to promote high standards of accountability, scholarship, and ethics in ministry to people of new religious movements. EMNR includes several organizations devoted largely or entirely to apologetic and evangelistic ministry to active and former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, better known as the Mormons.
