2001 EMNR Summit Conference

9:00 AM

Welcome and introductions

9:15-10:25

John Morehead of Watchman Fellowship presents:

"Tired of Treading Water"

It is no secret that "counter-cult" ministries hover on the fringes of evangelicalism. Much of our time is spent in development, and precious little is done in terms of evangelism, let alone missions to cults and new religions. This workshop will briefly assess the current status of evangelical "counter-cult" ministries, and emphasize the need to rediscover and apply a missiological paradigm for long-term stability for our ministries.  An added benefit of this approach will also be a well rounded response to the challenge of cults and new religions supported by a broader segment of the church.

10:30-11:40

Rob Bowman presents:

"Writing about Wrong Religions:
From Idea to Finished Work "

If you're interested in writing student papers, magazine articles, or books about false religious groups and movements, this workshop is for you.  We will discuss the entire process, including generating fresh ideas, doing research, developing the outline and argument, using quotations, editing and proofreading, and getting your work published.

11:40 AM -1:00 PM

LUNCH

1:00 - 2:10

Rich Poll of Apologia presents:

"Personal Support Raising Workshop:
How to get started and survive financially"

This workshop will explore various means of generating financial support for individuals who do not hold paid ministry positions with existing organizations. Various approaches will be explained and advice given in how to begin developing and maintain personal support income.

2:20-3:30

Round table discussion

3:50-5:00

Steve Cowan of the Apologetics Resource Center presents:

"Options in Apologetic Methods"

An overview of the five major apologetic methods:  Classical, Evidential, Cumulative Case, Presuppositional, and Reformed Epistemology.  The strengths and weaknesses of these methods will be discussed, as well as their respective usefulness in counter-cult apologetics. Steve is the editor and contributor of Zondervan's recent book on the 5 views of apologetics.

The above topics will prove to be helpful to strengthen our respective ministries and together accomplish our kingdom call.  The Round Table discussion is a very fruitful way to explore how we and EMNR can better serve one another, do our work with more excellence, and expand our horizons.

If you are not a member of EMNR and want to attend the Summit, please contact an EMNR board member or Bob Waldrep, our executive director for permission.

There is no charge for the Summit and like the main conference will be held at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
