Engaging the Mormon Culture with Compassionate Boldness - May 29 - 30, 2009

Mormonism Research Ministry will hold a conference May 29 - 30, 2009, at South Mountain Community Church, Draper, UT.

Christians who live in Utah and other communities with a significant Mormon population often want to speak to their Latter-day Saint neighbors about issues of eternal significance, yet many are not sure how to approach them about these sensitive topics.

The conference will include four plenary sessions and numerous workshops. The plenary sessions include "Is it time to embrace the LDS Church as Christian? Looking at Mormonism through a 21st century lens" by Bill McKeever; "Can we trust the New Testament: Responding to Article Eight" and "The doctrine of the Trinity: Does the LDS view of the godhead fit the biblical text?" by Dr. James White; and "The Role of 'Prophet, Seer, and Revelator' in the Mormon Church" by Sandra Tanner.

Attendees will be able to choose workshops taught by men and women who live and work in ministry in Utah. Sessions will include "Missionary Meat And Potatoes: Examining Some of the Common Topics that Come Up, Both with Missionaries and LDS People at Large," "Communicating the Biblical Message of Salvation with our Mormon Friends," "A Holistic Approach to Mormon Teachings and Beliefs: Engaging What Matters Without Misrepresenting People," and "Visual Aids that will Enhance your Witness to Mormons" along with discussion of historical and theological contexts and insights into ministry to Mormons.

The conference is open to the public and registration is $49 with reduced registration available for students, married couples and pastors and spouses.
