Gretchen Passantino Coburn, apologist and educator, went to be the with the Lord on October 2, 2014. She had served in ministry for many years as an evangelist and apologist alongside her first husband, Robert “Bob” Passantino, who died in 2003. She was remarried to Pat Coburn. She leaves behind her children Mary, Karen, and Paul, her husband Pat, her mother, Mary-Louise Beisner, her sisters Beth Thomas and Beverley Noia, and brother Calvin Beisner.
Gretchen Passantino Coburn (neé Beisner) co-founded apologetics research organization, Answers In Action (AIA). She served in full-time Christian ministry for 40 years & is respected as an award-winning teacher, author, qualified expert, & speaker. She had been an adjunct instructor at the undergrad, grad, & seminary levels.
Passantino co-founded Christian Apologetics: Research & Information Service (CARIS) in 1974 with her late husband, the well-known apologist Bob Passantino. She worked for & was mentored by the late Dr. Walter Martin and served as his Senior Research Consultant for 4 years, teaching assistant (1974-1982) co-author of The New Cults, & editor on nearly all his writing projects from 1974 until his death in 1989.
